The Library of Virginia announced recently they have digitized thirty-nine “Free Negro Registers” and placed them on Virginia Untold. The registers cover various dates from the late 18th to mid-19th century in multiple counties across Virginia. Counties represented are Alleghany, Amelia, Arlington, Bedford, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Fairfax, Fauquier, Goochland, Henrico, King George, Lancaster, Loudoun, Lunenburg, Lynchburg, Powhatan, Roanoke, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Southampton, Surry, and Westmoreland.
