How to Get Published as a Genealogical Researcher by William A. Veselik. Were it not for dedicated genealogical researchers who are willing to push their art beyond the pedigree chart or the family group sheet and write articles that cover a variety of subjects, many genealogical society magazines, journals, and  newsletters would have little to publish beyond the occasional book review or schedules of upcoming conferences, seminars, and online webinars. This article will help you choose the right topic, properly document your work, and make sure you are targeting the right audience.

Genealogical and Historical Societies in Virginia Genealogical and historical societies provide valuable information unique to their location. They include local history and perspectives of their communities often not found elsewhere. Virginia is divided into 95 counties and 38 independent county-equivalent cities, most of which have a society or a section in a local library for genealogical and historical content. The list included in this article identifies many of these organizations in the commonwealth.

In addition to the feature articles, you’ll find upcoming events, the President’s message, a book review of Tea & Toil at the Woman’s Club, and the “Glad You Asked That” column.
